New FCC Ruling for Wireless Microphones
The Federal Communications Commission has announced that wireless microphones may no longer operate in
the 700 MHz band. If you own a microphone that operates in this band you must discontinue use of it by June
12, 2010. If it causes any interference to licenced users of this frequency you must discontinue use immediately.
The operating frequency of your microphone is typically listed either near the switch or in the battery
compartment of the microphone transmitter. It is also listed on the back of the receiver. It is typically three
digits,a dot and three more digits such as 695.200. If the first three digits are between 698 and 806 you must
discontinue use of it by June 12, 2010. If you cannot locate the frequency, click on the link below to see the list
of affected microphones.
Audio Lite discontinued the sale of 700 MHz products several years ago because we saw this problem coming.
However, most of the major manufacturers continued the manufacture and sale of 700 MHz products. A few of
the manufacturers have a program in place to reband your microphone so you can continue to use it. After
reviewing most of these programs, we feel that because of the cost, it is generally better to simply replace your
microphone than to spend a lot of money rebanding a wireless microphone that is several years old. But, this is
a decision that you should make after carefully reviewing the reband program offered by the manufacturer of
your microphone. Note that this issue does not effect any corded microphones.

by combining channels from three available bands, or up to 10 within one band.
1122-Channel Frequency Agile system with Clearscan™ auto channel selection
allows quick setup, transmitter matching, and new channel selection if RF
conditions change.
Handheld transmitter includes Electo-Voice® N/DYM® 767a dynamic microphone
element.
Digital Posi-Phase™ Diversity receiver technology provides clear, drop-out free
audio.
Front panel Battery Level, RF and audio meters with XLR Balanced Mic or

Audio Lite has used this microphone almost exclusively in all of our new rink
installs and church projects for several years. It is also the same microphone that
we have used at all of the RSA National Conventions and all of the Bill Carlson
U-Profit seminars. In every case it has performed flawlessly even in Las Vegas
where the radio frequency air waves are very busy! It is frequency agile and has
the ability to scan over 1100 frequencies and lock into the clearest one.
The Telex unit comes with rack mount hardware so you can mount it in a standard
19" rack. If you don't intend to rack mount your microphone, you can purchase
the exact same unit with the Electro-Voice name on it without the rack mount
hardware for a lower cost.
CONSUMER ALERT Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device. Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1-888-CALL-FCC (TTY: 1-888-TELL-FCC) or visit the FCC's wireless microphone website at www.fcc.gov/cgb/wirelessmicrophones.
